The Italian Food Trail is the first one of its kind in the nation and today features over 50 food sites throughout the county. Italian families who immigrated here in the late 1800s and early 1900s have imparted a culinary legacy, not found in other regions of the country. Traditional dishes such as Italian Wedding Soup, Pizzelles, and Hungarian hot peppers in various forms including Hot Peppers in Oil have left a lasting impression.
Those of us who were born, raised and moved away from the area, look forward to visiting and ordering our childhood favorites, and those visiting for the first time are pleasantly surprised by the variety and uniqueness of the dishes.
The Italian Food Trail also has a passport program, with over a dozen stops highlighting our Italian heritage and culture and food!
