Champion

Champion is a small place with plenty to offer both in and around town.

If you hop on the Western Reserve Greenway Bike trail from the Sunside Trailhead on St. Rte. 305, you’ll be right on track for a ride through Champion’s thriving, tree-filled landscape. And while a bike ride through the town is a treat in itself, Champion offers plenty of reasons to stay a while.

Take a swing at a round of golf at Northwood Golf Course (which the bike trail passes through) or Cranberry Hills. Or try a variation of golf at Young’s Run Disc Golf Course.

Outdoor activities don’t stop there. Willow Lake Park in northern Champion is family- and pet-friendly, so you can bring everyone along to camp. The grounds also feature a water playground and special admission deals sometimes run on weekdays.

Shoppers can find gifts to buy at the Rusted Buckeye, a local spot for furniture, décor and craft events. Included among the charming products are treats from Champion Chocolates, a locally owned business specializing in anything chocolate or chocolate-covered.

Champion is also home to Kent State University’s Trumbull campus, where students study criminology and justice, communications, nursing and more. Visitors can spend time walking the campus or checking out the Link Art Gallery or the Kent State Trumbull Theatre, which puts on seven productions a year.
